details: Event Info

The Jewish Museum explores the work of six comics legends in half of the two-part Masters of American Comics exhibition (the other half can be found at the Newark Museum): Will Eisner, Jack Kirby, Harvey Kurtzman, R. Crumb, Gary Panter, and Chris Ware contribute with ink and paper to the ever-changing landscape of sequential art. The original pieces on display here, freed from the shackles of early reproduction processes, show the incredible skill of the early comics pioneers. A word to the wise, though: the curators place Eisner's work at the beginning of the show, effectively saving the best for first, so start at the end and work your way back.
